Rounding Calculator
How This Converter Works
Converts the entered text to a JavaScript number, then formats it to the selected 0 through 9 places after the decimal point. For finite numbers, Number.toFixed returns text with exactly that many decimal places, adding trailing zeroes when needed. Rounding uses JavaScript floating-point arithmetic, so values near a halfway point may not behave like exact decimal arithmetic.
Formula or rule
formatted result = Number(input).toFixed(decimalPlaces)
Example
- Input
- 25.468; hundredths (2 decimal places)
- Calculation
- Number("25.468").toFixed(2) => "25.47" (the next digit is 8)
- Result
- 25.47
