Hamming (15,11) Code Calculator/Encoder
How This Converter Works
Encodes eleven data bits into a 15-bit Hamming (15,11) code using even parity at positions 1, 2, 4, and 8.
Formula or rule
Place data in positions 3,5,6,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15. Each parity bit at position 1,2,4,8 makes the positions whose index contains that bit set even.
Example
- Input
- 10110100101
- Calculation
- For parity sets 1,2,4,8 the data parity is odd, even, even, odd respectively; the parity bits are therefore 0,1,0,1.
